Do the Right Thing!
Here are some sources of information about stewardship:
- First, contact your diocesan/archdiocesan office to see what information and assistance they can provide.
- The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) have published an excellent pastoral letter that explores the challenges of the Christian’s call to discipleship. Its goal is to help Catholics see stewardship as their response to God’s gifts. Stewardship: A Disciple’s Response (May 1993) is USCCB publication No. 567-4 and can be ordered by phone at 800 235 8722 or online at http://www.usccb.org/publishing/stewardship.htm
- The USCCB also offers other stewardship materials. Among them: Stewardship and Development in Catholic Dioceses and Parishes: Resource Manual. This can be used in conjunction with the pastoral letter described above. It provides practical suggestions and step-by-step guidelines for implementing stewardship programs. It is publication No. 5-132 and can be ordered by phone or online, as above.
- www.ParishLife.com has further materials on stewardship in Stewardship: God’s Call and Our Response. Look under Parish Vision (Parish Ministries). These materials include concrete ways in which small communities can assist renewal of parish life through helping people to learn the way of discipleship to Jesus Christ and the practice of stewardship in everyday life. Great Ideas from Great Parishes has a number of archived stories under the “Stewardship” button.
